On August 28, 2024, PI Corporation announced their new girl group survival show project Time Turner, in collaboration with Makestar, which would air live on . It is the platform's first ever real-time survival show. It was later confirmed to begin airing on November 8, with the finale on November 22.

Kelly Kim was revealed as the first member as she ranked first overall, followed by Sim Yerin, Lu Yuting, Cleo and Lea Navvab respectively. On December 9, member Sim Yerin revealed the group name to be I.
MET. U through a TikTok live. It was confirmed a day later by fellow member Kelly Kim.
On January 10, 2025, it was announced that I. MET. U would debut sometime later in the year.
On January 17, Lu Yuting announced her departure from I. MET. U prior to debut after coming to a mutual agreement with PI Corporation to step down from the group to pursue her other dreams.
On March 7, member Lea Navvab revealed that the group would be debuting in May and asked fans to wait for them. However, by mid-March, I. MET.
U's official group activities and content on their SNS accounts have ceased due to unknown reasons. On May 23, member Kelly Kim assured the fans that I. MET.
U is still happening and group activities would be resuming soon. After a few months of inactivity, I. MET.
U reunited in June with the group performing as a four-piece for the first time at Woori Multicultural Scholarship Foundation's event on June 22. On July 24, I. MET.
U announced their live variety show Build For U which would focus on building the identity of the group with involvement from the fans in preparation for their introduction and debut. On July 28, it was announced that I. MET.
U would be introduced with a pre-debut single in October. This release is a special gift for the fans who have long awaited for the group's music since the end of Time Turner. The same day, it was also announced that group will make their official debut in the first half of 2026.

On October 21, it was announced that the group would be pre-releasing "Still" as a single on October 27.
