On October 30, 2017, Richworld Entertainment announced that producer and singer Rich was producing a four-member girl group called HighSchool, which will debut in the second half of 2018. Their pre-debut concept involves the girls to wear masks to conceal their real identities until debut as Rich wanted people to focus on their talents instead of their visuals. Pre-debut members Dami and Yiseul left the group sometime in late 2018 and were replaced by Yebin and J.
Prior to debut, the group planned to release two pre-release singles: "High Class" on March 20, 2019, and "Baby You're Mine" in April. Their official debut was supposed to take place the same month with an unknown title track. Plans changed, however, when Richworld introduced "Baby You're Mine" as the group's debut single in the album description.
They previously already postponed the group's debut from April to May as announced in the description box of their "High Class" music video. Why they had changed their second pre-debut single into their debut single and which song they intended to make their debut song at first have not been announced. HaeBin then graduated the group, pursuing her solo career under the same agency.
