In September 4, 2022, news reports revealed leaked documents and reports of SM Entertainment's upcoming schedule for the fourth quarter of 2022 and after. The reports revealed an unnamed "new girl band" (신규 걸밴드) listed for debut. In September and in November, SM Entertainment's 'Training Unit' posted a series of images on their official Instagram account showing the silhouettes of eight girls whom are speculated to be members of their upcoming group.
On March 4, 2023, SM Entertainment's 'Training Unit' announced that they would be holding a showcase for the female trainees that could be potential members for the new girl group. The showcase was held on March 15, 2023 and lasted for about 1 hour and a half at an unannounced venue in Seoul. Since the showcase, the official Instagram account shared posts featuring several trainees with their faces obscured.
Four girls, only known as '❤️', '💛', '💚' and '💙', attended a workshop in Japan with the training staff in April 2023. On May 24, 2023, SM Entertainment initially announced that the group will be debuting in the fourth quarter of 2023. However on August 2, 2023, SM Entertainment announced the group is planning to debut in the first half of 2024.
On February 2, 2024, it was reported that they will be debuting in the late second quarter or early third quarter of the year. On May 8, SM Entertainment announced that they will be debuting in the fourth quarter of the year, before pushing it back again to the first quarter of 2025 by November 5. On January 12, 2025, a VCR played during the second day of SM Entertainment's 30th anniversary concert revealed that the eight-member group, named Hearts2Hearts, will debut sometime in February.
That same day, SNS accounts were launched. The next day, it was announced that the group will make their debut on February 24, 2025. On January 31, Hearts2Heart unveiled a series of images through their Instagram, giving a sneak peek at the members.
Concept photo for "[[The Chase". ]] On February 3, additional SNS accounts were opened for the group and the official lineup was revealed through their debut trailer. It was announced that Hearts2Hearts will debut with the single album "The Chase" on February 24.
On February 10, SM Entertaiment revealed that Hearts2Hearts would be coming back with the single in the second quarter of the year. On April 30, Ilgan Sports reported that Hearts2Hearts would be making their first-ever comeback with their second single sometime in June, with SM Entertainment confirming the reports hours later. On June 9, it was announced that Hearts2Hearts would be releasing "Style" on June 18.
On May 7, SM Entertainment shared plans for Hearts2Hearts' first mini album, coming out in the third quarter of 2025. On September 10, SM Entertainment confirmed that Hearts2Hearts will be coming back in October. On September 22, Hearts2Hearts unveiled a teaser for Focus, set for release on October 20.
"Pretty Please" was pre-released on September 24. On October 20, Hearts2Hearts's first mini album, Focus, along with its title track of the same name, was released. On November 5, 2025, SM Entertainment announced Hearts2Hearts will be releasing a single in the first quarter of 2026.
Later, on January 13, 2026, it was confirmed that Hearts2Hearts is in preparations for their comeback scheduled for late February. Hearts2Hearts' third digital single, "Rude! ", will be released on February 20.
In February 2026, SM Entertainment released music line-up preview, where they included plans about Hearts2Hearts' second mini album, which is set for release between April-June 2026. On March 13, Hearts2Hearts announced through their Japanese Twitter that they would be releasing their first Japanese digital single, "Rude! (Japanese Ver.
)", on March 18.
